New York, New York… (more!)
The next pictures from New York were all take from my friend’s Neneca’s camera. And I have not photoshopped any of them
If you want to jump to see the photos from my camera, click here. Also, click on the thumbnails for bigger versions of the pictures… Sorry, I am busier than usual, so instead of adding one by one like I usually do, I just did a big gallery with wordpress gadgets…
Start spreading the news…
New York, New York! I have been back for 2 days already, but I needed all that time to recuperate… I am SO TIRED! I left my house Tuesday at 5 am and only came back Friday around midnight. Below is the tale of my time in New York… (PS. To enlarge the photos, click on them).
Tuesday, January 19th
First of all.. I left SLC in a 7 am flight, but only arrived at the hotel my friends were at 7 pm! CRAZY! The shuttle took almost 3 hours from the airport to the hotel. Also, my flight was 8 hours long because it stopped in Phoenix, AZ. I didn’t have to get off the plane, but still! 8 hours! No food! Just an orange juice! It was insaneeeeeeee. But I arrived in NY and I could not even think of taking a single shot till I had my food. After walking a bit, we settled for a McDonalds… At least it was cheap. And I love how NY has all the calories in the menus of most restaurants. Definitely helpful.
Alright, so after dinner we walked around Times Square. Dani and Diego’s hotel was really close to a bunch of things in Manhattan, so most things we did walking. So after dinner, we walked towards the Rockefeller Center:
Then we walked around some more and I got a chance to see a few interesting places around the Times Square area. Lady Gaga was going to perform at the Radio City Music Hall the following night. My friends tried to get tickets, but they were sold out.
Wednesday, January 20th
Statue of Liberty, of course! First things first, right? So we woke up somewhat early, took the subway straight to the Staten Island station (or whatever they are called, sorry, I have not memorized it) and walked to the area where you get on the Ferry. The first photos here are the ones I took of the park surrounding the port.
The next photos were taken from the ferry. The first one is Ellis Island:
And this next one is the Statue of Liberty’s island and Manhattan in the background.
And the next photos were taken at the Island.
After walking around the Island for quite a while, we found the gift shop and I had some fun there
Ellis Island was next. Of course, at this point we were more interested in food than anything else, so we spend our 45 minutes in the island eating…
Then we were off the ferry we went to tour the downtown and wall street area.
Then… More subway to the West Village to find a Marc by Marc Jacobs store. Also, to stop at Magnolia Bakery to eat cupcakes… Gorgeous yummy cupcakes:
Thursday, January 21st
Next day’s first stop was the Brooklyn bridge. It was a quick quick stop because we had to go back to uptown to meet with Neneca that was coming from Buffalo to meet with us.
We thought Neneca would meet us near the Grand Central Station so we stopped there… But nopes, she was in Times Square. So we left again, but I took a few pictures.
So we finally met her up in Time square and we caught up for a while, we went to Central Park (Yeyyy!) and got one of those pedi cabs and toured around. It was my faaaavorite part of the trip. I loved the Park it was so pretty.
After Central Park… Yup, Times Square again! We had a gigantic dinner around there too.
Friday, January 22nd
Nooooo! The last day of the trip! All I had was two hours before I had to go to the airport so we went to the Empire State, that luckily had no lines.
Westminster’s First Ever Rail Jam!
This was fun. This afternoon, Westminster and ASWC hold the first Rail Jam ever in the college. Not that I care too much about extreme sports, but I went anyway to take photos for the college website. And I got some that I thought were good enough to share here too.

Rachel and Florian got engaged!
Oh hi.. It’s been a while since I posted anything here, right? I know… But I have a treat for you today, the photos of Rachel and Florian’s engagement! They got engaged on the 22nd, right at Temple Square, and wanted me to take some photos on the 24th, again, at Temple Square. They recreated the proposal moment for my lenses, and we went around taking pictures all over. It was a BEAUTIFUL day out there, and I think we got some good shots! They will be getting married in June, but not at Temple Square… They will get married in Germany! How fancy is that? Anyway, I won’t be able to attend that one, I wish I could, though.
Oldie but new.
I just found this picture on the photography group/workshop I’ve been participating in. You can see me in this photo (red shirt) shooting in the Great Salt Lake.
Fun!

Photo Workshop
Hey! Just a quick post to show some of the photos I took on my last Photo Workshop meeting. It was very informal, just to meet the new organizer and take some photos trying to recreate natural lighting. The cool thing was shooting in high key (bright background) situations, which so far, are my favorite! I only took about 30 photos, so here are my favorite:
Models: Sara and Danielle.
Narcisa.
Emo make up for Halloween (alright, it is not emo enough, I don’t know how to get eyes darker than this!!)
And on October 31st, instead of a Halloween party, me and Mike went to the Symphony. This is the dress I wore (no Photoshop was used in the making of this body):
by the way, this dress is pretty old… I got it when I was 16, and have used to at least 4 big events since (I didn’t have any pictures of the first one, but those below are: High School Graduation, Naomi’s graduation and Symphony):
looking way better now than ever, huh? And yes, I said it was a narcisistic post…
And the following photo is of me and Mike at the same day:
And those were the nails I had on, inspired by the Ruby Slippers from Wizard of Oz:
The following Saturday we went to the Symphony again. It is so much fun to dress up, and the Abravanel Hall is gorgeous, and the “band” was pretty cool too.
Fun fun fun! And me, looking gorgeous.
Cupcakes and others!
This Sunday I built a lightbox to take photos of small objects. So after work today, I stopped at http://www.mini-cupcakes.com/ bought a few delicious looking cupcakes and brought them home to shoot! I also used it with a few objects from the house. Hope you enjoy it.
Torture huh? I know.
